Update March 2009: The competition and recital have been combined! Now all entrants will have the chance to perform. Winners will be announced at the end of the recital.

Eligibility
    ~Open to vocal & instrumental students living or studying in Racine County, grades 9-12
    ~Previous first-place winners may not compete again on the same instrument

Eligible Instruments
    ~Strings
    ~Woodwinds
    ~Brass
    ~Percussion
    ~Piano
    ~Voice

Application  
    ~Deadline: Saturday, March 7, 2009 (Deadline has passed for 2009.)
    ~Application form may be mailed in or completed online
    ~Entry fee: $25 payable to Racine Symphony
    ~Credit cards accepted

Auditions
    ~Will occur in recital at the Young Artist Recital
    ~Performances limited to 10 minutes
    ~Memorization is preferred and will be judged with higher scores
    ~Auditioners must make arrangements for a piano accompanist

Judges
    ~RSO Music Director Andrew Massey, plus area professionals

Repertoire
    ~See the WSMA 2008-2009 Festival Music List >>
    ~All Class A solos are eligible for competition
    ~List also available from most school & private music teachers

Awards
    ~First Place: $600 scholarship, plus solo opportunity with the Racine Symphony Orchestra
        *Solo may be scheduled in the 2009/10 season
        *Solo performance with orchestra may be different repertoire than competition piece
        *Subject to approval of RSO Music Director
    ~Second Place: $400 scholarship
    ~Third Place: $300 scholarship
