Substitute audition information

Auditioners send in a one-page resume and a $25.00 deposit check (made out to the Racine Symphony) in advance to reserve a space for the audition. Your check will be returned to you upon arrival at the audition site. If you choose not to attend, your check will be used to cover administrative costs.

Approximately ten days before the audition, you will be sent an e-mail assigning an approximate audition time. Auditions will be 5-10 minutes in length. Audition times are assigned based upon the availability of the conductor and the number and instruments of the auditionees, beginning in the afternoon. You should allow a 20-minute margin before and after your assigned audition time, in case we are running either behind or ahead of schedule.

Once accepted to be on the substitute list, your name will remain on the list indefinitely unless you have moved and not given us a change of address and phone number, in which case your name may be removed from the list. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE YOU WILL BE CALLED, but if you have not been called in two or three years, or if you feel there has been a significant improvement in your playing, it would be in your best interest to audition again. If you have any further questions, please contact us at the address/phone numbers given below.
